What It Goulash?
Goulash is essentially a soup made with meat and vegetables, and is usually seasoned with paprika as well as other spices.
It originated in Hungary hundreds of years ago. Goulash is one of the official national dishes of Hungary and is even a symbol of that country.
So that is the official definition, but here in America, this iconic recipe took a turn…
Moms in the USA used what they had on hand, that is why Goulash is very economical. Ground beef, pasta, and tomatoes became the 3 main ingredients.
Everyone has that one recipe that really brings them comfort, mine happens to be this Old Fashioned Goulash. With all the flavors combined it is just perfect for a great dinner time meal. This is one recipe that we have been making for years and one that I wanted to try and make in a slow cooker. This recipe is super simple and effortless to put together. I always think the longer a sauce simmers, the better it tastes and that is just what you get with this Old Fashioned Goulash recipe.
Old Fashioned Goulash is a deliciously simple recipe with ground beef, tomatoes, and macaroni. You may have eaten this retro Goulash recipe as a kid. It is an easy weeknight dinner to make, and very kid friendly!
Ingredients
• 1/2 pound pasta
• 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
• 1 onion, garlic salt, pepper, chili powder, hot sauce..
• 2 cans (14.5 oz) cooked untrained tomatoes
• 2 t ketchup Tomato juice as need
Methods
Cooking pasta to done as direct on pack.
When cook, brown ground beef & onions in a very skillet or Dutch oven.
Straining & seasoning with spices as desire. In bowl, mashing tomatoes with potato masher & adding to beef with ketchup.
Drain pasta and adding to meat mixture, stir well.
Taste & adding additional season as need, I didn’t need to adding tomato juice to tomato juice, but if you like juice a lot you can adding as much tomato juice as you like.
