Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Nothing says summer like creamy homemade peach ice cream made with simple ingredients like heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, eggs, and fresh, ripe peaches.

The sweet taste of peaches and the brilliance of cream in this summer favorite

Every summer when peaches come along, we make all our favorite peaches, like Fresh Peach Cobbler and Peach Pie.

We even roast peaches and serve them with vanilla ice cream for a quick and easy treat.

But we always make sure to mix up at least one or two batches of this old-fashioned homemade peach ice cream.

This fresh peach ice cream recipe is packed with real peach flavor from 2 whole cups of fresh peaches.

It’s homemade ice cream at its best – indulgent, sweet, and delicious at home, just as I can remember from my childhood.

I’ve included it in my collection of recipes from Georgia (“The Peach State”) in my American Eats series, visiting the recipes and flavors that each state is famous for, one by one.

Homemade peach ice cream is very rich and creamy with a delicious fresh peach taste throughout. It’s easy to prepare and has the perfect summertime flavor in every bite.

A few people have asked me if it would be easy to switch a strawberry ice cream recipe to a peach recipe, and although I assumed the answer was yes.

I thought I’d better give it a try myself to see exactly how it works and whether the quantities and proportions are correct with peaches. Instead of strawberries, this is how peach ice cream was born.

Yield: 1 gallon

●2 ½ pounds fresh peaches – peeled, pitted and chopped

●1 cup white sugar

●1 pint half-and-half cream

●1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

No description available.

●1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

●1 tsp vanilla extract

●2 cups whole milk, or as needed

Instructions

Step 1:Dice peaches and mix with sugar in a bowl. Let sit while you mix the remaining ingredients.

Step 2:Stir together the half & half, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla. Then add peaches and sugar mixture. Stir until combined.

Step 3:Pour mixture in a gallon ice cream freezer container. Add in enough whole milk to fill the container to the fill line, about 2 cups.

No description available.

Step 4:Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to freeze the ice cream.

Cook’s Notes:

Cooling the container first will help the ice cream harden faster.
