Creamed Chipped Beff On Toast Is A Forgotten Classic
My mom used to make this recipe. Can also be made with 3/4 pound of glazed and browned hamburgers. We called it SOS: Same as Ole Stuff. Great comfort food! Both recipes are easy to prepare and taste great with cold beer. Serve it with toasted bread.
This month, I learned a lot of new recipes just by watching food channels. This Creamed Chipped Beef is just one of the ones that caught my eye.
I know this is a very popular food but it surprised me the first time I tasted it. Beef in a thick cream sauce? I mean, how good is that? I’ve always been looking for quick and easy recipes that I can make in less than an hour. This was the perfect recipe for me. I usually have it with toast and potatoes.
I tried eating it with rice too. It was perfect! It’s like a steak burger at Jollibee. Comes with a cup of rice. Try it sometime, I promise it’s great!
Creamy Chip Beef is a dish of ground dried beef in a delicious, smooth, slightly seasoned white sauce. The sauce with cream is usually a bechamel sauce made of flour, butter and milk. Usually, you can serve this dish with toast, but it also goes well with eggs or potatoes.
Cream-cut beef may not be very traditional, but on many Southern tables this classic dish, popular in the military for its stuffing of dried beef, is found and its honest use.
A creamy, sauce-like white sauce rehydrates the dried beef, and a pinch of black pepper gives rich flavor to this streamlined recipe. While many people like to serve creamy beef on thick slices of Texas golden toast, you can also spoon warm buttermilk biscuits.
Many people remember it back in the day as breakfast, but we think it’s a good weekend recipe to bring to the table every once in a while.

How To Make Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast
Rinse the slices of dried beef really well – they are VERY salty! Once you have rinsed well, pat dry with a paper towel.
Chop the beef into small bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
Heat the butter in the large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the flour and pinch of cayenne pepper to the melted butter and whisk until well combined and cooked through, about 45 seconds.
Very slowly add the milk while whisking continually.
Once the milk has all been added, add the chopped dried beef.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for a few minutes until thickened.
Taste and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste, if needed.
Serve on top of dry toast immediately.
That’s it, all you have to do is Enjoy !
